On Wednesday, an accident between two mini-trucks claimed the lives of at least 11 individuals. Reports indicate that the accident also injured 16 more people. The accident took place in Gujarat’s Vadodara district around 2.45 AM, according to the Police.
The accident took place at the Waghodia circle when a mini-truck carrying the people slammed into another truck. Karanraj Vaghela, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Vadodara informed that the victims were going to Pavagadh in the district Panchmahal.
According to Vaghela, 10 passengers and a co-driver of the vehicle were among the deceased. “The deceased included 10 passengers and a co-driver of the vehicle”, he said. He added, “The mini-truck driver, who is under treatment, lost control over the wheels as he dozed off when the vehicle was passing from Waghodia circle on the Surat-Vadodara highway.”
Vaghela also added that this led to the truck crashing into another truck from behind. He has informed that nobody has filed an FIR yet.
Furthermore, the victims were taken immediately to the Sri Sayajirao General Hospital in the city. According to the hospital’s statement, eleven people gave in to their injuries and 16 others are under medical treatment. Among the 11 deceased, five of them were women.
Leaders expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Vadodara accident

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani took to Twitter and expressed his sadness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to Twitter and conveyed his sadness over the unprecedented accident.

Vaghela said that the victims of the accident hailed from the Varaccha area of Surat city. They were heading towards Pavagadh in Panchmahal district, nearby Vadodara. He added that Pavagadh is a well-known religious place.
He also informed that some families hired the mini-truck at Varachha, their home-town. They were planning to go to Pavagadh, Vadtal, and Dakor to visit the temples. Vaghela added that they started their trip from Surat on Tuesday at approximately 11 PM.
