The United States Reopens Schools with Optional Face Masks
Elementary schools and kindergartens have started reopening in the United States. As teary-eyed mothers left their children off at school, everyone was skeptical about the masks. Various schools across the country have started operating a new session with masks optional for the students and teachers. The states are leaving it to the schools to decide whether their children and teachers require masks or not. Although, authorities have stated that masks are “highly recommended”.
Parents have Mixed Feelings About this Decision
Several states such as Georgia have left it upon the schools to decide. The schools will take the decision whether children and teachers should wear a mask or not. When asked by the parents, they were unable to come to a conclusion. They are having mixed feelings on this issue. Some parents in the United States have disagreed with this decision of not making face masks compulsory. However, they have decided not to send their children to schools. On the other hand, some parents have happily agreed and sent their children to schools with face masks. Parents from Atlanta, Georgia, Henry County, etc. have said that their children will wear masks, regardless of whatever decision the school authorities take.
Health Bodies Recommend to Wear Face Masks
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) made it very clear a few days ago that everyone should cover their faces. No matter what their vaccination status is, they need to put on a mask. Similarly, teachers and children at school in the United States are also recommended to wear face masks. The COVID-19 Delta variant is highly transmissible and everybody needs to remain cautious. However, some educators also think that compulsion of face masks is an intrusion to parents’ authority over their children’s health. Therefore, they have decided to make it a choice.
Which States in the United States have Made Face Masks Compulsory?
Various states such as California, Louisiana, New Jersey, Oregon, and Washington have made face masks compulsory.
