Research and study prove that two vaccine doses; have the capacity to fight against the deadly COVID-19 Delta variant. Scientists and researchers have claimed that two doses are well and good in order to provide immunity against the virus. However, the study was conducted when the second wave was at its peak in India. but the results are more clarified now.
Two Vaccine Doses Offer Better Protection Against the COVID-19 Disease
The Indian Council of Medical Research said that two vaccine doses provide a better immunity against the COVID-19 Delta variant. Moreover, the Union Health Ministry has also given a green signal to this study. Scientists and researchers believe that two doses work well against the virus. Irrespective of Covaxin and Covishield, these doses provide 95 percent protection from death. This means that even if a person contracts the virus after getting vaccinated, it won’t result in death.
The Large-Scale, Real-Life Research
NITI Aayog member, VK Paul said that the study was conducted when the second wave was at its peak in India. The study was conducted on 1,17,525 police employees in Tamil Nadu. Out of these 1,17,525 workers, 17,059 didn’t receive the vaccine and 20 surrendered to the virus. 32,792 police officers received only one dose and 7 amongst these people died. Moreover, 67,673 people received two vaccine doses and only four of them died.
Two Vaccine Doses Provide 95 Percent Protection Against COVID-19 Deaths
According to the study, a single dose offers 82 percent protection; from death after getting infected. On the other hand, two vaccine doses; offer 95 percent protection against death. This study was conducted on a high-risk population at the time; when the pandemic was at its peak in India. Moreover, during the second wave; the Delta variant was emerging in India. Henceforth, it also found out that two doses; offer protection against the Delta variant as well.

As per the WHO’s data, the COVID-19 Delta variant; is detected in 111 countries so far. It is highly contagious; is a great threat to the world population. Moreover, it has become dominant in several countries; like the United Kingdom, Spain, Bangladesh, Thailand, etc. Those countries that were slowly recovering from the pandemic; are also witnessing a retrogressive situation.
