Moreover, Managing Director, Manish Maheshwari; is now under custody for misinterpreting the country’s map.

Twitter India MD Manish Maheshwari is taken into custody under several sections. He is booked under IPC Section 505 (2) and IT Section 74 (Amendment) Act 2008; for portraying a wrong Indian map on his website. A Bajrang Dal leader from Bulandshehr has filed a case against Manish Maheshwari. The map shows Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh; not a part of India. Besides that, they are portrayed as a separate country. Along with Maheshwari, a woman named Amrita Tripathi is also booked for the same.
What is the Controversy All About?
Twitter India published a picture of India’s map; showing Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as a separate country. However, it appeared on Twitter’s career section under the heading “Tweep Life”. The map received immense criticism and hatred; from netizens after it came under public scrutiny. Users were very angry and enraged about this behavior. However, the map was removed from the website late Monday night. Besides that, several people have demanded strict action against the website. They have pointed out that this is not a mistake; this is an insult to India’s dignity.
Not the first Controversy for the Website
Twitter India is currently getting a lot of attention in India. It indulged in a controversy with the Indian government regarding new IT rules lately. According to the Centre, the website is not following; the new IT rules and guidelines. However, the Centre has given several warnings to the social media website.
Moreover, a few days ago, the UP Police had booked Maheshwari. He was booked for questioning in connection with a misleading video. The video showed an elderly Moslem man; facing assaults in UP’s Ghaziabad district. Moreover, the website hasn’t misinterpreted the Indian map for the first time. Earlier too the website uploaded India’s map with Leh as a part of China.
