The United Kingdom is planning to end mandatory quarantine upon arrival for most of the countries. However, there are several countries that will still have to quarantine once they arrive in the UK. The European nation has decided to slash the list of 52 countries to as few as nine. Meanwhile, the new travel guidelines will come into effect from October 4, 2021.
Travelers Need Not Quarantine in the United Kingdom Anymore
In its new travel guidelines, the United Kingdom has decided; to end mandatory quarantine upon arrival for most of the countries. Although there are nine out of 52 countries that will still have to follow the rules. But the rest of the countries are now slashed out from the “red list”.
As of now, there is no announcement regarding the same but it is expected to arrive on Thursday. For a very long time, the UK is quarantining travelers from different countries upon their arrival. The time has finally come when travelers can enjoy without panicking about the quarantine on their return. Besides that, Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa are also planning to implement quarantine-free travel in October.
India’s Reciprocal Action
A few days ago, India revised its travel advisory as well in reply to the United Kingdom. The UK earlier disregarded India’s Covid vaccination certificate and considered it invalid. Besides that, it was necessary for Indian travelers to quarantine for 10 days upon their arrival in the UK, despite their vaccination certificates. Although the country has given a green signal to Covishield, Indian travelers are still expected to go through a 10-days quarantine. Meanwhile, India also revolted in the same manner. All the travelers from the UK will have to quarantine in India for 8 days upon their arrival. Moreover, they will have to go through regular RT-PCR testing as well.
COVID-19 Situation Around the World
New Zealand has put Auckland under strict lockdown; after two new Coronavirus cases were found in the outskirts of the city. Besides that, Australia is seeing a surge in COVID-19 cases; despite an 82 percent vaccination rate. The local infections are increasing each and every day.
On the other hand, the United States, Germany, Israel, and a few more nations; are moving towards the third jab. They are inoculating their vulnerable population with a Covid booster shot. Vaccination is the prominent solution; to all that is happening around the world. Henceforth, everyone is requested to get vaccinated as soon as possible. The United Kingdom is also going to loosen some of its COVID-19 restrictions in order to boost the economy.
