Also a friendly reminder, spoilers ahead.

The Orville Season 3: Release Date

The answer is Yes. The Orville Season 3 is indeed happening. We will also see the show move from Fox to Hulu. Since Disney owns both of them, there isn’t much difference on the top.

The Orville Season 3 is also going to have fewer and longer episodes than Season 2.

Hulu made a tweet on July 21, 2019, that confirmed The Orville Season 3.

In 2019, In a statement for TV Line, McFarlane announced that The Orville Season 3 would be delayed for a while and that he would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020.

McFarlane said, “As the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show. It’s exactly this kind of willingness to accommodate a show’s creative needs that are made me want to stick around for so long.”

This was also the time McFarlane left Fox after 21 years. He moved to NBC for a $200 Million deal.

However, the production shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic on March 15, 2020. The global situation didn’t stop McFarlane though.

“We shot about half of the season and it’s looking amazing,” MacFarlane said. He also said that he has set up all the systems at his home where he can edit the shows as well as record his other projects, Family Guy and American Dad from home.

Even though we might not see a 2020 release, we may still be getting the next season in early or mid-2021.
