The King: Eternal Monarch ended with Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul holding hands. It soon transitions to an elderly couple holding hands. This indicates that Lee Gon and Jeong Tae-eul lived happily and grew old together.

Lee Min-ho portrays the lead, Lee Gon. He is widely recognized for his role in Boys Over Flowers. Furthermore, he also appeared in the critically acclaimed action-thriller Gangnam Blues.
Kim Go-eun portrays Jeong Tae-eul and her female counterpart Luna in the Kingdom of Corea universe. She can be also seen in the popular romantic drama Cheese in the Trap as well as the brilliant Jung Ji-woo film A Muse.
