The IMA has released a state-wise list of doctors who lost their lives to the virus while doing national duty. Along with the general public, doctors too were martyred in the second Covid wave. India is slowly and steadily recovering from a humongous second wave. So many people succumbed their lives to the virus. India was witnessing approximately 3 to 4 lakh cases a day. But now, the cases are declining. The country observed less than 1 lakh cases consecutively for 3 days. Moreover, the positivity rate is also declining. Some states have started the unlock phase as well.
Bihar Tops the IMA-Released State-wise List of Martyred Doctors
According to the Indian Medical Association (IMA), 719 doctors lost their lives in the second wave. The IMA released a state-wise tally of doctors who lost their lives in the second Covid wave. Bihar tops the list with 111 martyred doctors. We cannot even imagine combating the virus without our doctors and frontline workers. If we are safe and at our homes, it is just because of them. They are risking their lives for us. Even a thank-you is a very short word to thank these heroes. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal join Bihar in the list.
What was the Death Tally in the Different States?
The IMA-released list shows the maximum number of doctors who died in Bihar. So far, in Bihar, 111 doctors lost their lives in the second wave. In Delhi, the tally is 109. Delhi was one of the worst-hit COVID-19 cities in the country. Besides Delhi, 79 doctors died in Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, 63 died in West Bengal. Among the southern states, 35 doctors lost their lives in Andhra Pradesh and 36 in Telangana.
32 doctors were martyred in Tamil Nadu. However, the lowest tally was from Puducherry with only one doctor losing his life. Two death each was reported from Goa, Uttarakhand, and Tripura. Although three doctors died in Jammu & Kashmir. Besides that, three each were also reported dead from Haryana and Punjab. The IMA also reported five martyred doctors from Manipur and Chhattisgarh. Maharashtra, the worst-affected COVID-19 state, witnessed the death of 23 doctors.
