The Good Place Season 5 Doesn’t Seem Like a Possibility.

If you were expecting The Good Place Season 5 to come back, we have some bad news. On January 30 this year, The Good Place finished its fourth season. The show premiered on Netflix on September 26 when it reached millions of viewers. Now it’s pretty much confirmed that it was the last time we had a glimpse of Eleanor and her group of deceased friends.

The Good Place comes from the mind of Michael Schur. He is responsible for writing some of the best episodes of The Office. He also created Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The Good Place follows Eleanor, a deceased woman who is welcomed after she died to “the Good Place”. She soon realizes that she doesn’t belong there as this place was designed only for good people. Eleanor isn’t necessarily a good person and she must hide her morally imperfect past to stay at “the good place”.

Like all other Schur shows, The Good Place also received huge acclaim from fans and critics alike. Critics applauded the setting, jokes, and the cast, especially Ted Danson. But as all good things come to an end, it was also time to say goodbye to The Good Place.

The Last Goodbye

The fourth season of The Good Place premiered on NBC back in January but it wasn’t until September 26 when it hit Netflix that the show has become a huge buzz. Fans were expecting The Good Place to come back for yet another season. But back in June 2019, the show was already canceled.

According to Newsweek, the fourth season was the end of it all and there are no plans for The Good Place Season 5. The show was well-received and held steady ratings and the decision to cancel was a creative one. Schur has confirmed that he had planned the ending of the show during Season 2 and he didn’t want to keep extending the story. He wanted to keep his vision of the story short and impactful. That’s why we named the episodes chapters instead of episodes or whatever because it feels like a novel that is being carefully sort of laid out chapter by chapter.”, said Schur to Newsweek. NBC respected the decision and didn’t order for another season.

There was also the post by the official Twitter handle of The Good Place. In the post by Schur, he mentions how he mapped out the show and decided there would be just over 50 episodes and that the fourth season will be their last. He also expressed towards NBC and Universal TV for letting them make the show and end it at their schedule. He also thanked his entire creative team, both on and off-screen.

The Good Place Season 5: Plot and Cast

The season four finale was a very satisfying and emotional end to The Good Place. It will be considered as one of the best comedy series finales. Although Schur has called it the end, he did mention that there were a lot of ideas for extending the show beyond the fourth season. With NBC’s latest streaming service Peacock, it is still not sure if the show would ever get a future revival. Even if The Good Place Season 5 comes back, it won’t be for a long time.

The Good Place will be nothing without the outstanding cast. Kristen Bell, William Jackson Harper, Jameela Jamil, D’Arcy Carden, Manny Jacinto, and of course, Ted Danson are all amazing on their own and the creators will bring them back. For now, though, it is time to bid farewell.
