The first season of The Family Man was released on 20 September 2019. Since then it was also announced that the show was renewed for two more seasons.

Amazon Prime Video posted a tweet where they announced the second installment.

Filming for The Family Man Season 2 began in November 2019.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Bajpayee said that The Family Man Season 2 has entered post-production. He also said that the dubbing for the show has ended as well. He said that the Coronavirus pandemic has affected the production for a while but it has since picked up.

Furthermore, he added that Amazon may announce it anytime in November, probably by the end of it. Bajpai said, “Just be ready for it. It’s going to be bigger and better this time. We see it and we feel like we are part of something unique”.

On the show’s first anniversary, Amazon Prime Video posted a Youtube video showing tidbits from the filming of Season 2. Take a look.

For now, there is no confirmed news on the release date of the second season. Previous reports suggested that the new season would be out by December.

However, a Mid-day report suggest that the release has been delayed by two months. This is due to the use of heavy VFX in the show. A source said to Mid-day, “Given the nature of the subject, the show is heavy on VFX. Even though other aspects of post-production progressed swiftly during the lockdown, the elaborate special effects work was considerably delayed. Raj and DK are sticklers for perfection; so, they have decided to wait a tad longer as the latest instalment shapes up to their liking. The editing is underway simultaneously. Though the platform has yet to lock the final date, the show is expected to stream in February.”

Regardless, it doesn’t seem like the wait is for too long!

Who will be back?

Regardless to say, Manoj Bajpayee will be coming back to play Srikant. Without him, the show won’t be the same. He will be joined by co-star Sharib Hashmi who plays his partner JK. Hashmi has also become a fan-favorite and even steals the spotlight in many scenes.

One of the best parts about the show is that it doesn’t just rely on Manoj Bajpayee to carry it. With tons of interesting and relatable characters, The Family Man manages to bring in a talented set of actors to portray them and be as equally excellent as Bajpayee.

One such performance was Neeraj Madhav’s portrayal as the primary antagonist, Moosa. His performance has received rave reviews everywhere. Fans were shocked when the series revealed him as Al Qatil and even more when he died in the season finale. Madhav’s performance as Moosa is undoubtedly one of the best villains in Indian TV shows. It is highly unlikely that he will be back in The Family Man Season 2 but his absence will be felt.

The Family Man Season 2: Potential Plot

The first season ends with two shocking moments.

One of them was Moosa’s death. We see Moosa and Sajid leaving the chemical plant and continue with their plan. Moosa changes his mind when he hears his mother’s voice on TV. Sajid tried to stop Moosa and a fight ensues where Sajid kills Moosa. Sajid escapes and his fate is left unknown. It is no doubt that he will be a major player this season.

The other moment was the major cliffhanger at the end. We see Zoya (Shreya Dhanwanthary) and Milind (Sunny Hinduja) pinned in a shootout with Moosa’s men. Moosa planted the gas tanks in an attempt to recreate the Bhopal Gas Tragedy in Delhi. The show ends without us knowing the fate of the city. Will Delhi be saved? We just have to wait for The Family Man Season 2 to find out!
