Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases, the European Medicine Agency Approves Moderna Jab for Kids

The European Medicine Agency on Friday approved Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for children aged between 12 to 17 years. However, the vaccine was tested on over 3,700 children and it showed good results. It was quite similar in comparison to the antibody response in young adults aged between 18 to 25 years. The spikevax vaccine seemed to work pretty well on the children of this age group. How was the Trial Conducted?

The trials involved around 3,732 children from the 12 to 17 age group. Out of these 3,732 children, 2,163 received the Moderna COVID-19 jab. And the rest 1,073 children were inoculated with a placebo. As a result, none of the 2,163 children got infected with COVID-19 after receiving the shots. Henceforth, the European Medicine Agency was quite impressed with the results. They allowed the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) to accomplish that the vaccine is quite efficient for the children. Besides that, it shows quite similar results in children between 12 to 17 years as that in young adults.

  2. Nausea
  3. Swelling at the injection site
