The Taliban on Friday stated that they are ready to negotiate peace in Afghanistan if President Ashraf Ghani is removed from his position. In short, they have demanded a new government in Afghanistan in exchange for peace. After the removal of US and NATO troops from the territory, they have swiftly seized several regions. Besides that, they are threatening several provincial capitals. In return for peace, they have asked for a new President in Afghanistan.

A Sense of Fear and Terror Among the Afghans

Top US military officer, General Mark Milley; said in a Pentagon Press Conference that the Taliban has “strategic momentum”. Moreover, he added that the end game is not yet written. The Afghans fear that what happened 20 years ago could happen again. When the Islamic organization was in power; it caused a lot of suffering to the Afghans. They deprived women of education and barred them from work. Henceforth, people who can afford are emigrating from Afghanistan. There is a sense of terror and horror amongst them.

Suhail Shaheen, a spokesperson for the Taliban; said in a press conference that they are ready to negotiate peace. They will lay down their weapons only if President Ghani is removed from his position. Moreover, he said that they do not believe in monopoly. Any government that tried to monopolize power in Afghanistan; was not a successful government. Henceforth, they don’t want to repeat the same formula. Besides that, Shaheen also criticized Ghani for his speech on the auspicious occasion of Eid-al-Adha and called him a warmonger.

New Strategies of the Taliban Government

While talking about the strategies of the new Taliban government; Shaheen said that women will have the right to study and work in the new government. They can go to school; work, and even get involved in politics. But they will have to wear a headscarf or the hijab. Moreover, he said that women will no longer need a male representative with them; while going outside the house.
