President Vladimir Putin, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, said that Russia is aiming for herd immunity against Coronavirus by autumn. Russia is one of the worst-hit COVID-19 countries. Last year, the condition there was devastating. However, they have also been successful in controlling the spread of the virus with a lot of effort. As compared to last year, the situation this time is much better. Since the outbreak, Russian scientists were giving their level best in developing a vaccine. Three COVID-19 vaccines have been developed by Russian researchers so far; Sputnik V, EpiVacCorona, and CoviVac respectively. Vladimir Putin mentioned that the country has three reliable vaccines now. He hailed his country’s development and said that he is aiming for herd immunity.
Vladimir Putin Appeals to the Citizens
President Vladimir Putin got his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last week. However, he did not specify the company’s name. In his press conference, he urged the citizens to come forward and get vaccinated. He further added that getting vaccinated is the only authentic way of shooing the virus away. This was not the first time he was appealing to his countrymen to get vaccinated. Several times he has mentioned in his statements the need of getting a Covid vaccine shot.

Russia began its vaccination campaign in early December 2020. Despite beginning the campaign so early, Russia has been struggling in immunizing its citizens.
