Having revealed the production-spec earlier this year, the Renault Kiger is all set to go on sale in India and is the newest addition to the subcompact SUV segment. The new offering is based on the CMF-A+ platform built under the Renault-Nissan alliance and the model shares several cycle parts with the new Nissan Magnite that’s received a warm reception since its launch.
Hopes then are high that Renault will be able to replicate its partner’s success with the Kiger and pricing will be the crucial aspect for the same.
The automobile manufacturer’s product portfolio, which currently includes the Renault Kwid, Renault Triber, and Renault Duster, will certainly get a major boost with the addition of the Renault Kiger. Now, this sub-4metre compact SUV looks very promising as it ticks all the right boxes on paper.
The Renault Kiger made its global debut on January 28, 2021. Not only has its mass production commenced at Renault India’s manufacturing facility in Oragadam, Chennai, its dealer dispatches have also started. Features and Specifications of the Renault Kiger
- The Renault Kiger gets a twin-slat chrome grille flanked by tri-LED headlights and LED DRLs doubling up as indicators. At the rear, you will come across C-shaped taillights.
- Functional roof rails, shark fin antenna and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels shod with Ceat SecuraDrive tyres are also available.
- The Kiger no doubt has one of the most spacious cabins among the sub-4metre compact SUVs.

The Renault Kiger gets a three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a three-cylinder 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol mill. The turbocharged petrol motor produces 100PS of maximum power and 160Nm of peak torque and can be paired either with a five-speed MT or a five-speed X-Tronic CVT automatic.
The naturally-aspirated petrol engine churns out 72PS of maximum power and 96Nm of peak torque and has five-speed MT and five-speed Easy-R AMT choices.
Renault has already revealed that the Kiger will be offered in four variants – RXE, RXL, RXT, and the top-spec RXZ.
The Renault Kiger will also come with different driving modes – Eco, Sport, and Normal. Renault claims a fuel efficiency of 20 kmpl from the turbo mill and is yet to reveal the mileage figures from the three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol.
The car also gets the segment-best boot capacity at 405 litres. In addition, the new Kiger will be offered in six colour options with dual-tone versions on sale as well.
Price and Availability
The Renault Kiger is expected to get an extremely competitive price tag and is likely to start from ₹ 5.5 lakh, the same as the Magnite. And is expected to launch on 15th February 2021.
