Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader on Tuesday criticized senior colleague Kamal Nath on a BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh. He said that personally, he doesn’t appreciate the language used. Mr, Kaal Nath is the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.

While Gandhi was addressing a campaign meeting on Sunday. Held for the forthcoming election in Gwalior’s Dabra town on 4th November.  Here the BJP is represented by Shri Imarti Devi.

Kamal Nath commented that the Congress candidate was a “simple person” and the opponent was an “item”, the opponent here refers to Shri Imarti Devi.

The comment has created huge controversy ahead of the by-polls, with both the state’s ruling BJP and the woman candidate appealing to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for the expulsion of the former Chief Minister, Mr. Kamal Nath.

Nath’s reaction over the issue

Over the issue of commenting on the BJP leaders, Mr. Gandhi told the media that “Kamal Nath Ji is from my party but personally, I don’t like the type of language that he used…  I don’t appreciate it, regardless of who he is. It is unfortunate”.

On this issue, Mr. Kamal Nath refused to apologize and said that: “It is Rahul Gandhi’s opinion”.

He also said that “I have already clarified the context in which I made that statement… Why should I apologize when I did not intend to insult anyone? If anyone felt insulted, I have already expressed regret.”

Still, Nath has not apologized for the comment he made though he tried to explain it that he could not remember the BJP candidate’s name.

Talking about Imarti Devi, she had been a minister in Kamal Nath’s government before it collapsed in March. She was the one out of the 22 MLAs who had walked out of the party with Jyotiraditya Scindia. Later it had lead to the collapse of the party.

Currently, Imarti Devi appealed to the Congress chief, asking if she would have accepted this kind of behavior that is considered morally wrong if had it been made about her daughter.

The BJP woman candidate who was insulted did not sit quite after all this happened. She has demanded Nath’s expulsion from the Congress party. The National Commission for Women has noticed the comment made. The national commission has sought an explanation from the senior leader regarding this matter.
