PM Modi on Friday addressed the challenges that people faced during the COVID-19 second wave. The second Covid wave brought along various challenges on top of the old ones. So many people lost their lives. However, experts have also warned that soon India may witness a third wave. The virus is still prevalent and chances are there that it might mutate. Keeping all this in mind, the Prime Minister announced a crash course for the frontline workers.

PM Modi on Friday launched a crash course for the COVID-19 frontline workers. He said that COVID-19 is still there and there is a strong possibility that it might mutate. Therefore, it is important to ramp up the preparations. It is better to prepare for the worse beforehand. Further, he added, that they are preparing more than 1 lakh, frontline workers, across the country. The third wave is going to arrive soon. Henceforth, we have to make sure that it isn’t fatal as the second one.

What are the Benefits of the Customized Crash Course?

The crash course will finish within two to three months. After the training, these frontline workers will receive the tag of “Trained Sahayak”. These workers will then assist in the arrangements and reduce the burden. PM Modi also said that after completing the course, these workers will immediately begin their duty. Top health experts of the country have designed the crash courses. Besides COVID-19 benefits, this programme will also bring new employment opportunities to the country. The Prime Minister has urged the youth to come forward and participate in the program. It is a completely customized crash course. The programme is designed under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0. Its total financial outlay is Rs. 276 cr.

The programme will commence in 11 training centers across 26 states in the country. Given below are the customized job roles for the frontline workers:

  3. Advanced care support
  4. Emergency care support
  5. Sample collection support
  6. Medical Equipment support

The programme aims at providing more job opportunities to people from non-medical backgrounds. It also emphasizes preparing people for future Covid waves. PM Modi also announced that the Centre is offering free COVID-19 vaccines to all above 18 years. He has also asked people to follow the COVID-19 precautions. Everyone should wear a mask and practice social distancing. Moreover, people should continue washing their hands several times throughout the day. If soap and water are not available, they can use an alcohol-based sanitizer.
