The fourth season will be released into two parts each containing seven episodes each. The first episode is titled “The Beginning of the End”.
In a statement to Variety, showrunner Chris Mundy said, “We’re so happy Netflix recognized the importance of giving ‘Ozark’ more time to end the Byrdes’ saga right”.
In the same statement, lead actor Jason Bateman said, “A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s).”
Season 3 of Ozark premiered on March 27, 2020. That was almost a year and a half after the premiere of Season 2.
Netflix is yet to announce the exact release date of Ozark Season 4. The Coronavirus pandemic also delayed the production. Then in August, Ozark’s production company Media Rights Capital (MRC) announced the production has resumed. An official spokesperson said, “The health and safety of our Ozark family is our priority.”
Moreover, in an interview with IndieWire, Bateman revealed that the production is beginning on November 9. He said, “Everything is moving well toward that, and we’re very confident in the guidelines and protocols we’re going to be following. We’ve got tons of consultants, [and] we’re learning a lot from other productions.”
But this also comes with sad news. Bateman won’t be directing any episode for Ozark Season 4 in the interest of his safety.
Who will be back?
Season 3 saw some characters dying shockingly.
The most notable death of the season was of Helen Pierce, portrayed by Academy Award nominee, Janet McTeer. She saw her death in the hands of Navarro at the end of Season 3.

Jason Bateman and Laura Linney will be back as Marty and Wendy Byrde as they struggle through their life in crime and debts.

Julia Garner has received widespread acclaim for her performance as Ruth. She has won 2 consecutive Emmys for her performance in the Best Supporting Actress in a Drama category. She will also come back for Ozark Season 4.

Ozark Season 4: Potential Plot
In typical Ozark fashion, Season 3 also ended with a shocker. We see Navarro choosing the Byrdes over Helen. He shoots Helen and tells the Byrdes that this is the beginning of increased cooperation between the three of them.
We also see agents Miller and Evans closing in on the Byrdes and Navarro. Even though they came pretty close, they still don’t have anything in their hands. Would they find anything in the next season?
We also see Ruth quitting. She joins Darlene, who also brings Frank Sr. into business with her. Her war with Navarro will be interesting next season.
We also see the Byrdes’ son Jonah learning that his mother, Wendy ordered the hit on his uncle Ben. He takes the gun and confronts her but she talks him out of it. Will his actions have an impact on Season 4? We can just wait and find out!
