How did this Food Crisis Occur in North Korea?

According to the FAO report, North Korea will produce 5.6 million tons of grain this year. This, however, is 1.1 million tons short of the amount required to feed its entire population. It is indeed a worrisome situation for the entire country. The country shut its borders with other nations in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides that, its own agricultural sector failed due to floods. All these scenarios led to the country’s current situation. Moreover, North Koreans have started reducing their diet as well. They are eating 445 calories a day than the 2100 calorie diet.
