Will John Wick’s fight finally end with John Wick: Chapter 4? Back in 2014, when John Wick went on a rampage to take vengeance for his dog, it blew our minds away. Since then, two more movies came out and solidified John Wick as one of the visceral and stylistic action franchises out there. Now there are talks of a fifth movie, a spin-off, a potential cross-over with Atomic Blonde, and a TV show based on the Continental. All three films have intensely crazy fight sequences and a world that seems straight out of a graphic novel. The franchise also helped Keanu Reeves re-emerge after a string of flops.
John Wick follows our titular assassin, played by Keanu Reeves. He is a retired assassin who goes on a revenge spree against the people who killed his dog. What follows is three movies filled with relentless action, expertly choreographed fight sequences, some fascinating characters, and of course, Keanu Reeves. With every film, the fights have become more brutal, violent, and the stakes could have never been higher.
When is John Wick: Chapter 4 releasing?
Originally supposed to be a trilogy, the success of the movies have ensured that the franchise becomes bigger. John Wick: Chapter 4 had an initial release date of May 21, 2021. Although fans have to wait some more, thanks to the ongoing CoVID-19 pandemic, the movie’s filming stayed unspecified. Chad Stahelski, the co-director, and director of all three John Wick films confirmed later that the release was postponed due to Reeves’ commitment to The Matrix 4. During an interview, Stahelski informed us that the film is now scheduled to release on May 27, 2022.
The cast of John Wick: Chapter 4
Keanu Reeves will definitely be back as John Wick. During an interview, he said that he will continue to do sequels as long as they are a success. Although not confirmed, previous cast members such as Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Asia Kat Dillon are likely to appear in John Wick: Chapter 4. Saïd Taghmaoui is also likely to appear as the Elder after we get the first glimpse of The High Table in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Another surprise in Parabellum was Halle Berry. She was a brilliant addition to the previous film and fans wanted more of her. Berry still hasn’t confirmed her involvement in John Wick: Chapter 4.
John Wick: Chapter 4 Plot details
Spoilers if you haven’t’ seen John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum or any of the previous ones. At the end of Parabellum, we see John Wick tear through the Continental to reach Winston. Winston makes a deal with the High Table and shoots Wick as he falls from the building and seemingly dies. Wick is later seen to be alive and delivered to the Bowery King. The scarred Bowery King asks Wick if he is angry and Wick replies ‘Yeah’. An injured and deceived Wick says ‘Yeah’ and the film ends with a cliffhanger.
Even though most of it is under wraps, the end of Parabellum sets John Wick: Chapter 4 perfectly. John is likely to team up with the Bowery King and go against the High Table and the Continental. A team-up of Reeves’ Wick and Fishburne’s Bowery King is something fans have been waiting to see once again since 1999’s The Matrix.
