Italy has become a mask-free, low-risk country on Monday. Wearing a face mask is now not compulsory in Italy. All of this country is now under a white zone; which means a safe zone. However, those who want to continue wearing masks can definitely wear them. But it is no longer compulsory in the country. First Mask Free and Low-Risk European Country, Italy
Italy is now officially a Covid-free nation. The Italian government classified each of its 20 regions as “white”; announcing them safe. Face masks are no longer compulsory in public places. After a struggling year, this European country has finally gained its freedom. However, those who want to still continue wearing masks; for personal safety reasons can definitely wear them. The government has asked the citizens; to always carry a mask along with them. In very severe gatherings, people might need to put masks on. The temperature in Italy; will also 40 degrees Celsius, in some regions this week.
No More Restrictions for Vaccinated People in the Country
17,572,505 people in Italy are vaccinated against COVID-19. This accounts for one-third of Italy’s total population. Moreover, the country has also opened its boundaries; for vaccinated visitors. Tourists from Britain, the US, Canada, etc. are now allowed inside the country. Besides that, vaccinated tourists will no longer need to quarantine. However, the health minister has asked the citizens; to remain vigilant and cautious. Although the country is going maskless; caution and prudence are still needed. Roberto Speranza, the health minister; said that the battle is not yet won.
The Slow and Gradual Progress
Italy witnessed a second Covid wave; in November last year. However, the authorities imposed partial lockdown in several regions. Those restrictions were eased early last month in the country. And the regions were classified as “yellow zone”. Under this zone, all the restrictions; were eased but night curfews were imposed. Slowly and steadily, the yellow zones; turned to white and Italy became maskless. So far, more than 127,000 people; have died in the country due to COVID-19. On the other hand, more than 4 million people were infected.
