India is currently witnessing the second wave of the pandemic. However, India is dealing with more than 3 lakh cases a day. Amid the rising cases, PM Modi on Monday conducted a telephonic conversation with US President Joe Biden. Both the world leaders discussed several issues. Joe Biden assured that he will help India in every possible way he could.
Joe Bidens Sends Series of Help to India
US President Joe Biden in a conversation with PM Modi said that America is with India during these tough times. A few days ago, the American President had denied help prioritizing his citizens. But now, he conveyed solidarity with India to combat COVID-19. India is currently going through very tough times. Death tolls are surpassing 3000 every day. Hospitals are flooded with patients. Oxygen is unavailable everywhere.
The US is sending a whole series of help that India needs in order to tackle the ongoing situation. Joe Biden mentioned that India has helped America last year when they were facing a crisis. It’s now time to pay them back. India will receive Remdesivir and other essential drugs from the US. America will also send machinery and parts that are required for vaccine manufacture. Joe Biden held a conference at the White House with his ministers and came to the conclusion of helping India.
The Telephonic Conversation Between PM Modi and Joe Biden
A few days ago, America restricted the supply of raw materials that are required to make vaccines to India. US President Joe Biden said that he will first vaccinate the citizens of his own country. Serum Institute in India is the largest vaccine manufacturing company in the world. It is currently manufacturing the Covishield vaccine. The raw materials required for making the vaccine are imported from America. However, when the US restricted raw material export, PM Modi requested Biden to lift the ban. Considering the situation in the country, Joe Biden decided to help India in every possible way he could.
India Receives Help From the US
PM Modi cordially thanked the US President for his assistance. He has ensured a smooth and effective vaccine supply chain between both countries. PM Modi also weighed on India’s commitment to contain the global pandemic through “Vaccine Maitri”. India has also shown active participation in COVAX and the Quad Vaccine Initiatives. Earlier in the day, the US sent 318 oxygen concentrators to India.
