French officials detained 9 people in connection with the teacher’s murder. This attack is globally termed as an “Islamist attack” in Paris suburb. Samuel Paty was on his way back home when attackers came and beheaded him. French Education Minister Jean-Micheal Blanquer stated publicly that the teacher’s decapitation is due to “his teaching of class which explained pillars of democracy-freedom of expression.” According to the sources, Paty delivered a lesson on freedom of expression referring to the texts of Prophet Mohammed. He used a satirical magazine which came out in a Danish newspaper in 2005. The magazine Charlie Hebeedo came under the direct radar of arrogant people’s attack, which lasted around three days.

What has police found out yet?
French President Emmanuel Macron also came out to publicly voice out that Paty’s killing is linked straight to his lessons on freedom of speech, “the freedom to believe and not believe”. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said that he is keeping up with the proceedings of the murder. He said, “I am keeping myself directly informed in liaison with the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister.”
French officials stated that an 18-year old Russian refugee of Chechen origin is one of the suspects. The police shot another attacker, Abdoullakh Abouyezidovitch A. on Friday afternoon. The shot culprit is known to have stated publicly of his association before he was shot. France’s anti-terror state prosecutor, Jean-Francois Ricard, said, “people have nine people have detained and taken into custody.”
Who have the french officials detained?
Four detainees are close relatives of the suspect, the French officials said. Two of the nine people showed up themselves to confess of their connection to the suspect. Other detainees include the parents who complained against him. On October 7, 2020, one of Paty’s student’s father used Facebook to ask for Paty’s dismissal from the school. The teacher has received death threats in the past due to his freedom of expression lessons.
The french officials are questioning the detainees. The French officials are hard at work going in-depth of the case. Many people have shown their remorse and anger at the beheading of “Islamic terrorist attack”. The education minister has also been actively protesting against it saying that the beheading affects everyone. Tareq Oubrou, imam of a mosque of Bordeaux, said, “A civilization does not kill an innocent person, barbarism does.” The pupils of Paty have shown such love and support to the teacher. Well, seems like even if the killer killed him, what Paty wants to impart to his students came true.
