Amid the concerning situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Emanuel Macaron, the President of France has decided to donate 120 million Covid vaccines. There are several poor countries across the globe that haven’t received the privilege of a COVID-19 vaccine. However, there are several world leaders stepping up to provide aid to these nations.
France to Donate Covid Vaccines to Poor Countries
Emanuel Macron, the President of France announced that he will double the donation of COVID-19 vaccines to the poor nations. He is now donating 120 million doses of the Covid vaccines to middle and low-income countries of the world. As mentioned above, there are several countries across the globe that haven’t yet received one single dose of the Coronavirus vaccine. The announcement comes after the Quad countries pledge to donate 1 billion doses to these poor nations.
What did the French President Say?
In his statement, the President of France said that vaccination is far behind what their country is witnessing now. He announced the donation while he was in a fundraising Global Citizen Concert in Paris. Besides that, he also mentioned that the French country will also keep providing aid to the UNICEF and other health systems. They will donate and distribute Covid vaccines as much as they can. Moreover, he highlighted the fact that only 3 percent of people in the African continent are vaccinated against the Coronavirus disease. This comes as a shame to those countries that are moving forward with a third jab; while there are countries in the world who haven’t yet received a single dose of the Covid vaccine.
COVID-19 Situation is Other Parts of the World
Only when we thought that COVID-19 is getting in control, the situation started slipping from our hands. Not just France, several other countries of the world are witnessing a surge in their daily infections. Moreover, China that had almost defeated the virus is now landing in a pathetic situation once again. The government of China has implemented strict restrictions in several parts of the country.
But there are countries that are acing their vaccination status. Australia has vaccinated almost 80 percent of its total population. On the other hand, some countries are moving forward with a booster jab. Countries like the United States, Israel, Canada, etc. are inoculating their vulnerable population with a third jab. The WHO has called the need for a third jab unnecessary at this point in time.
