Xiaomi‘s Mi Mix Fold is the company’s first foldable handset. The new phone goes up against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Huawei Mate X2. The latest smartphone is part of the Mi Mix series, which has previously released prototype devices such as the Mi MIX and Mi Mix Alpha.
Mi’s Fold, on the other hand, is planned as a consumer product that will be available in stores and has a traditional folding design, unlike those concepts that were meant to showcase the company’s creative efforts. Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Fold is also the first phone to include the Surge C1 image signal processor (ISP) and Liquid Lens technology developed by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi President Lin Bin announced in January 2019 that the company is working on a “double folding smartphone.” It is the product of early prototypes seen at the time. Mi Mix Fold was put through 200,000 bends in reliability testing and up to a million folds in extreme reliability testing, according to the company.
On the Mi Mix Fold, Xiaomi used a U-shaped hinge configuration that makes inward folding, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Huawei Mate X2. The monitor is an 8.01-inch WQHD+ flexible OLED with a peak brightness of 900 nits and a 4:3 aspect ratio.
On the front, the device has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 840×2,520 pixels, a 27:9 aspect ratio, and a peak brightness of 700 nits. The Mi Mix Fold’s inner screen has a 60Hz refresh rate, while the outer monitor has a 90Hz refresh rate.
The Mi Mix Fold’s versatile monitor also follows Dolby Vision and HDR10+ specifications. It also has a DCI-P3 colour gamut and a colour contrast ratio of 4,300,000:1. The external monitor also supports HDR10+, allowing images and videos to be doubled in resolution to 1440p.
