The US will soon administer COVID-19 vaccines for children aged between 4 to 6. Most probably, in 2021’s last quarter or 2022’2 first quarter, the vaccines are expected. It’s now time for children to get immunized. Earlier this month, the US simplified the vaccination process for children above 12. Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE are figuring out the process.
Children to Recieve their COVID-19 Vaccine Shot by 2021 End or Early 2022
Kids in the US will most probably get their COVID-19 vaccine shot in 2021’s last quarter. If not in the last quarter, maybe in 2022’s first quarter. Dr. Anthony Fauci, America’s top infectious disease expert announced the news. Children aged between four and six are likely to receive the vaccine shots. Earlier this month, the US cleared its way for adolescents above 12 years. The US is directly in contact with Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE for the same. Soon, the children in the US will also get inoculated. America is leading towards herd immunity. A large fraction of its population is vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
There Might be the Need for a Booster Dose
Dr. Fauci also noted the need for a COVID-19 booster shot for kids. Firstly, they will receive the primary shots. And within a year, they have to receive the booster shot. The vaccine’s durability and protection against Coronavirus are generally not lifelong. As compared to other diseases, Coronavirus is different. Henceforth, its vaccination process is different as well. You cannot rely on only one vaccine shot for lifelong protection. Therefore, a booster is needed after the primary shot. Pfizer Inc. CEO said that there is a need for booster shots between 8-12 months. He also told that people ‘likely’ may need a third booster dose. However, this is not yet officially announced. We will have to wait for clarification on this announcement.
