COVID-19 cases in China are rising despite vaccinations. Most of the northern Chinese provinces are witnessing an upsurge in their daily cases, no matter what the vaccination status is. Even children’s vaccinations have begun in the country. But provinces like Mongolia, Gansu, Beijing, and Ningxia are witnessing an upsurge in the daily infections.
COVID-19 Cases in China Rising Despite Vaccinations
Although China has vaccinated almost 1.07 billion of its total population, some provinces are witnessing an upsurge in their daily cases.
The National Health Commission (NHC) stated on Saturday that the recent outbreak has now spread to 14 provinces. However, the country has also started vaccinating children aged 3-11 against COVID-19. The mainland reported 59 new local COVID-19 cases on Friday, its highest count since September 16.
Evacuation of Travelers to Low-Risk Areas
The recent outbreak in China has spread to 14 provinces now. Most of the new cases come from Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Gansu, Beijing, and Ningxia. However, the government of Ejina Banner, Inner Mongolia; stated that it would transfer about 9,400 people to low-risk areas. Many travelers are currently stranded in that area. Besides Inner Mongolia, various other provinces are planning to evacuate travelers to areas with few or almost no cases. The situation in the country is extremely grim at the moment.
What did the Authorities Say?
A spokesperson from the NHC stated that the epidemic prevention and control situation is slipping out of hands in China now. This recent outbreak is getting more severe as it has now spread to 14 provinces. However, the country’s leading epidemiologist Zhong Nanshan has said that the country will overcome this battle within a month. It will successfully succeed in containing the virus in the upcoming few days. But the situation right now is very grim. Beijing has reported more than a dozen cases.
COVID-19 Positive Person Visits Theme Park in China
The Universal Studios theme park in Beijing is on emergency pandemic prevention status. It is said that close contact of a COVID-19 positive patient had visited the outskirts of the capital city. Henceforth, the authorities asked the people who visited the park on October 24 to undergo nucleic acid tests. Besides that, China has fully vaccinated 1.07 billion of its total population. Many provinces have also started vaccinating children between 3 to 11.
