Amid rising domestic in the country, China is urgently promoting its COVID-19 vaccines to minors. The country is witnessing a surge in domestic cases due to the Delta variant. Henceforth, they have decided to ramp up their vaccination drive and promote it to the minors. Recently, the country witnessed 71 new domestic cases on the mainland.

A New Surge of COVID-19 Cases in China

China is witnessing a new surge of COVID-19 cases, with 71 domestic cases on Wednesday. It was the highest daily count for the country since January this year. With the cases rising throughout the country to at least 18 provinces, millions of people have undergone a lockdown. The world’s most populous country quite successfully managed to contain the virus. But the recent outbreak in the Nanjing province is havoc above their heads. Moreover, the virus spread rapidly from Nanjing to Beijing and Wuhan, the province where the virus was first detected in 2019.

Vaccination and Mass Testing is the Only Key

Mass testing is what the authorities are preferring right now. They have already conducted three rounds of mass testing in cities such as Nanjing, Zhengzhou, and Wuhan. It is said that a traveler from Moscow brought the virus along with him to Nanjing, an eastern city in China. And from him, the virus spread to all airport staff. However, the reason isn’t specified yet. But this is the reason that most people are considering. On the other hand, authorities feel that vaccinating minors will help a lot in containing the virus.

The country’s education ministry issued a notice on Tuesday regarding the minors’ vaccinations. It said that China will start vaccinating children between 12 and 17 throughout the country very soon. Moreover, the notice also quoted that the vaccine will soon become mandatory for all those who are eligible below 18. Besides that, the minors will receive the jabs with the consent of their parents or guardian. However, several provinces already began their vaccination campaign for minors in July. But that didn’t seem to woo teenagers much.

Vaccination is an Important Step in Achieving Herd Immunity

With the Delta variant spreading all over China, authorities have decided to push the minor vaccination campaign further. They highlighted the fact that it is an important step in order to achieve herd immunity. Experts suggest that most teens do not enough immunity to fight against Coronavirus. Henceforth, their body needs the anti-Covid jab as early as possible. Moreover, the country has also implemented travel restrictions to curb the virus spread. The authorities have urged the citizens not to travel to high-risk areas, especially when it is not necessary.
