Netflix’s Black Mirror has become a worldwide phenomenon. This anthology series explores technology in a dark and satirical way. Black Mirror is filled with some unique yet shocking moments. After five seasons and two specials, there are huge speculations about where Black Mirror Season 6 will be heading.

Creator Charlie Brooker has recently revealed in an interview with Radio Times that he doesn’t think the audience is ready at times of a global pandemic for stories about the salvation of humankind due to technology. “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those”, said Brooker. Fans of the show have also compared the year 2020 to an episode of Black Mirror.

In January 2020, Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones broke away from their Endemol Shine owned production banner House of Tomorrow. They created a new Netflix-backed company Broke and Bones. This also meant leaving the rights for Black Mirror to Endemol Shine. Since then, Banijay Group took over Endemol Shine and is now the owner of the rights to Black Mirror. According to a report in Variety, the intellectual rights for the show are at center-stage. It also reported that Brooker and Jones won’t be able to produce any Black Mirror Season 6 episodes until more agreements take place. This might disappoint fans as Brooker’s vision and writing were one of the key elements of the show.

The future of Black Mirror Season 6 is still not certain. These are still speculations and are not confirmed. We just have to wait for Netflix to make any official announcements.

Charlie Brooker has mentioned that characters from the third season episode “Hated in the Nation” might appear in the future. He has also said that the “Bandersnatch” character Colin Ritman might appear in future episodes.

If these are true, there is a good chance of Kelly Macdonald, Faye Marsay, Benedict Wong and Will Poulter appearing on Black Mirror Season 6.

Fan favorites Jon Hamm, Alex Lawther, Rafe Spall and Oona Chaplin gave some of the most memorable performances in the show. It will be satisfying to see their characters once again.
