Amazon’s founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos to fly to space next month. His brother Mark will accompany him on this voyage. Bezos will fly on his first crewed space flight in his own company, Blue Origin’s rocket.
‘Dreamt of Flying to Space Since Childhood’: Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos is flying to space with his brother Mark. And that too in his own company’s rocket. He made the announcement via an Instagram post on June 7. Bezos said that since he was 5 years old, he dreamt of traveling to space. It was one of his fantasies. He further mentioned that he will complete his dream along with his brother on July 20, 2021. Jeff Bezos is stepping down from his CEO post on July 5. He will no longer serve as Amazon’s chief. Besides Bezos and Mark, another lucky person will get a chance to fly to space. Any person who wins the auction seat will join the two brothers in their space journey.
Jeff Bezos will be the First Space Company Owner to Travel to Space
Several people are investing in space rocket startups. Billionaires Elon Musk and Richard Branson too have their own space companies. Elon Musk’s SpaceX remains in the limelight every now and then. Jeff Bezos founded Blue Origin in the year 2000. However, space travels were not common in those days. But now everyone loves these adventures. People want to know what’s exactly there in space. They are quite interested in these topics right now. Although Musk and Branson own space companies, Jeff Bezos is the first among them to actually travel to space. And that too in his own company, Blue Origin’s rocket.
People are Highly Excited About the Auction Bidding
The rocket that will carry Jeff Bezos and others, has undergone 15 trials. No passengers were on board. We haven’t heard anything regarding the trails. On the other hand, people are highly excited about the auction as well. More than 5000 bidders from 136 companies have shown interest in the auction. The highest bid isn’t disclosed yet. Currently, the bid is in its second phase. The highest bid after the second round stood at $3.5.
The Space Rocket
Jeff Bezos and his companions will fly in the New Shepard rocket and capsule combo. It will carry six passengers more than 62 miles above the earth’s atmosphere. Besides that, the capsule has six large observation windows. Named after Alan Shepard, the first American to go to space; Blue Origin’s rocket and capsule combo are all set to make history on July 20.
