Big Mouth is an adult animated coming-of-age sitcom created by Andrew Goldberg and screenwriter-directors Nick Kroll, Mark Levin, and Jennifer Flackett.

The series follows a group of 7th graders, including best friends Nick Birch and Andrew Glouberman, as they go through puberty with struggles like masturbation and sexual arousal all in the suburbs of New York City.

The first season, consisting of ten episodes, premiered on Netflix on September 29, 2017, and the second season was released on October 5, 2018.

The third season was released on October 4, 2019.

There hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the date of release of Big Mouth Season 5.

Viewers can expect season 5 to be available in the fall of 2021.

Netflix has been consistent about releasing Big Mouth in the fall each year, with season 1 premiering in September 2017.

seasons 2 and 3 releasing in October 2018 and 2019.

Season 4 became available in December 2020, slightly delayed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A Recap of Season 4 Ending:

Matthew comes out to his father. His father admits that he had always known and accepts him, and comforts him by saying that his mother will take some time, but she will surely understand how he feels.

Meanwhile, Nick has been possessed by his darker future self “Nick Starr”.

The possessed Nick pushes away his friends with his rude behavior. Nick is wandering in the ghost limbo with Duke as a “lost soul”.

Nick attempts to force Starr out of his body but fails, so he recruits Andrew and Missy in a mission to jump into his body and force out Starr.

Starr is defeated, and a scared version of Nick within combines with the real Nick to become one.

Potential Plot for Big Mouth Season 5:

Season 5 will focus more on Missy’s self-discovery, while Jessi, Nick, and Andrew all learn to use “Gratitoad” to help them overcome feelings of self-doubt and anxiety.

Jessi and Nick obviously have feelings for each other, although one notably more so than the other.

Aidan’s mother is still grappling with her son’s homosexuality.

The Cast of Season 5:

The main cast Nick (Nick Kroll), Andrew (John Mulaney), and Jessi (Jessi Klein) will surely return along with some guest actors.

With Jenny Slate stepping down from being the voice actor for Missy. We can expect to see Ayo Edebiri really come into her new role voicing Missy for Season 5, as she already played Missy’s voice actor in the last 2 episodes of Season 4.
