On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of 11 worst hit COVID-19 states. The matter is quite concerning in India. India touched a new record with 3.32 lakh cases and 2000+ deaths on Friday. The situation is deteriorating day by day. PM’s discussion with Delhi’s Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, went live on television for some time.
Appeals By Arvind Kejriwal
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal expressed his concern over the rising oxygen crisis in the capital. However, later the central government backlashed him brutally. Reportedly, he was using the meeting platform as a medium for playing politics. As PM Modi objected to an in-house meeting with the ministers, Arvind Kejriwal expressed regret. The central government criticized Delhi CM for spreading lies during a national broadcast. Arvind Kejriwal also expressed his concern over the situation. Truly, if not brought under control, the situation could get worse. Delhi hospitals are facing an extreme oxygen shortage.
Oxygen tanks are not able to enter the city, claimed Arvind Kejriwal. He urged PM Modi for guidance. Moreover, he mentioned that people in Delhi are losing their lives due to oxygen shortage. It is a very dreadful sight for him to watch. Folding hands, he also requested PM Modi to ensure a smooth supply of Oxygen in Delhi. Besides that, he also requested PM Modi to contact the CMs of those states where oxygen supply is available. Mr. Kejriwal mentioned West Bengal and Odisha to facilitate oxygen supply. The Chief Minister urged the PM for a national policy to get rid of this situation.
The Criticism
Arvind Kejriwal was highly criticized during the meeting. Sources say that he was using the platform as an aid to play politics. His entire speech was just a publicity stunt. It was not meant for any solution. According to the Centre, oxygen is already being airlifted to Delhi. He was also accused of spreading lies about vaccine prices. Other Chief Ministers spoke about how they are tackling the situation. But Arvind Kejriwal said nothing and kept questioning the Prime Minister. He was also spotted yawning and laughing a few days ago in a virtual meeting.
The CMO’s Statement
Delhi CM regretted the whole scenario. Several occasions have been there where matters of public importance were shared live. Although, they had no confidential information in it. The CMO also said that they are regretful for any such inconvenience if occurred. Never before an in-house meeting has been broadcasted to the public ever.
