Tamil Nadu’s ruling party AIADMK announced that they would continue their alliance with BJP. The tie-up will continue for the next 2021 Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu. AIADMK announced On November 21 with Home Minister Amit Shah present.
Amit Shah has applauded Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami for the “good governance” that the Tamil Nadu government has provided. Shah has also lauded the Tamil Nadu government in defending themselves against the Coronavirus pandemic. Shah asserted to the public that the Modi Government at the Centre would stand side by side with the AIADMK Government “like a rock” for the growth and development of Tamil Nadu.
Deputy CM and AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam first announced the continuation of their alliance. He made the declaration ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. AIADMK’s co-coordinator Mr. Palaniswami also validated the announcement later on.
Both the leaders had a meeting with Mr. Amit Shah at a private hotel. The meeting reportedly went on for about 40 minutes.
The Union Home Minister addressed an audience at the function and praised the AIADMK Government. Mr. Shah said that Tamil Nadu has come on top in the Good Governance Index besides winning awards in various categories/sectors. He also asserted that the Modi government would stand “shoulder to shoulder” with the “Palaniswami Government” and the people of Tamil Nadu. Additionally, he said that together they would implement welfare schemes for industrial development, farmers’ welfare, or any other development.
Amit Shah called out the DMK-Congress alliance
The Home Minister also called out the DMK-Congress party. He challenged them to list out the developmental schemes they have started for Tamil Nadu during the 10 years of the UPA regime. Additionally, he called them to compare that list with the numerous schemes that NDA has implemented in the last six years. He also mentioned that their alliance is ready to respond to them in a public debate anywhere in Chennai.
Talking about the innumerable schemes and multiple figures that the Modi regime has offered Tamil Nadu, Mr. Shah talked about the budgetary allocations for the state. He said that the Modi government has allocated a much higher budget for Tamil Nadu than the budget sanctioned to Tamil Nadu during the Manmohan Singh government.
Mr. Shah also stated that ever since Narendra Modi entered the political scene of the nation, corruption, caste, and dynastic politics were getting abolished. He also said that the DMK and Congress have no right to speak about corruption after the 2G scam and other cases. He hoped that the people of Tamil Nadu would end dynasty politics.
Mr. Panneerselvam also compared Mr. Amit Shah to a “modern-day Chanakya”.
Among the seated audience, senior BJP leaders including State President L. Murugan and alliance partners’ representatives from PMK, DMDK, New Justice Party were present.
