All adults in India are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations from May 1. The government launched its website Co-Win for vaccine registration. Co-Win was opened for registration from April 28. A lot of people complained of glitches and website crashes. Here’s everything you should know about the registrations.

Co-Win Opens its Website for Vaccine Registration

The Co-Win website started registrations for people above 18 years of age on April 28. Even after a lot of glitches and server issues, about 3.5 million people registered themselves in the first hour. On the other hand, some people complained of OTP delays and server slowdown. A lot of people also found no hospitals offering vaccines to individuals below 45 years of age. National Health Authority CEO, RS Sharma clarified the issues. He guided people and told everyone what’s exactly happening with Co-Win right now. Besides that, he also addressed how people can book a vaccination appointment.

Availability of Slots on Co-Win

RS Sharma clearly mentioned that the availability of slots depends upon state and private hospitals. The states and private hospitals will come on board with the details of the Centre, vaccine prices, etc. After they have updated all the details, then only people will be able to book an appointment. We can expect the states and hospitals to come on board at Co-Win on May 1 or after that.

After the registration portal was open to all, Serum Institute reduced its vaccine prices from 400 INR to 300 INR per dose. Serum Institute in India manufactures the Covishield vaccine. It is also the world’s largest vaccine manufacturing unit. After the prices are reduced, the states will now buy the vaccines from the makers. Once everything is done, slots will be available on the Co-Win website.

After that, fill in your ID Proof and you’re good to go. Registration on Co-Win is that simple. Next time you log in, Co-Win will ask for your number and OTP again. But this time you’ll be directly taken to the appointment page. Once the appointment page is ready, citizens will be informed. You can book an appointment for yourself after that.

Is Co-Win Capable of Handling the Load?

Co-Win has registered almost 5 million people in a day. However, the website crashed at 4 pm in the afternoon. But the portal is capable of handling double the load. 3.5 million people registered for vaccination in just an hour. Additionally, RS Sharma said that they received 8.7 million SMS in 1.5 hours after the website was opened.
