RESIDENTS URGED TO LOOK OUT FOR 'AGGRESSIVE' PHONE SCAMMERS

The Office of Consumer Affairs would like to warn the public about an aggressive telephone scam currently targeting a large number of local residents.

The telephone calls are from individuals (not located in Bermuda) claiming to be from Microsoft advising Bermuda residents that their computers have sent out a “fault” message to Microsoft and need to be repaired remotely. These are hoax calls and the public are advised to hang up immediately.

AIRPORT SIMULATION EXERCISE TO BE HELD TODAY

Members of the public are being advised that an emergency exercise will take place at the L. F. Wade International Airport today. The objective of the exercise is to test Bermuda’s readiness in the event of a plane crash or other emergency.

This simulation is required every two years as part of the Department of Airport Operations regulatory requirements. Residents are urged not to be alarmed if they see increased emergency personnel moving around the island on Monday.
