ISLAND RECORDS SECOND ROAD FATALITY IN 24 HOURS

Around 10.00 this morning, police and first responders were dispatched to a reported serious collision on Middle Road in Warwick, near the junction with Burnt House Hill.

It appears that a car and a rental cycle were involved.

The injured rider, believed to be a 68-year-old male, was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance and later pronounced dead.

No further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time until his next kin has been notified.

Traffic diversions in the area remain in effect while the scene is being processed by the relevant police personnel.

The investigation into this fatal collision, the fourth for 2017 continues and any witnesses are asked to contact the Roads Policing Unit on 247-1788 or the main police telephone number 295-0011.
