The hopes and dreams of any nation or island hugely rest upon the laps of nurturing mothers. Mothers are an interesting phenomenon. They are uniquely crafted human beings who will care when others do not care and when they do not feel like it.
A mother is a teary sight. Yes, she is. She tears up when she first sees that ultrasound picture and hears that heartbeat. She becomes teary when she finds out the sex of the child, and at the first fleeting butterfly movements she feels within her. A mother tears up as she realizes that this growing little one is literally reshaping her life (physically and emotionally). A mother tears up after she makes it through the first and second trimester. She tears up, as she understands that she is almost there. A mother tears up in joy and pain to know that labor has begun. She becomes teary-eyed as she feels the baby exit her body. A mother tears up when she sees, holds, smells, kisses, and cradles her newborn next to her breast.
A mother can never go back to being a non-mother. She must always move forward. Mothers, you become the prophetic voice over the life of your child from the womb and out of the womb. It is your words that curiously and carefully shape the manifestation of destiny in the life of your child. Life or death is surely on your lips for your child.
Mothers, let me encourage you to continue to speak life no matter what you experience or what life brings you. The future of your child is dependent upon how seriously you take this lifetime responsibility of motherhood.
During a child’s toughest times, it is the soothing voice of a loving mother that will carry that child through. That is the power of a mother.
Personally, from the time I was a preteen, I vowed never to do anything that would cause my mother to cry tears of sadness or pain. I love her so! Understand that when your mother has been a mother indeed, you desire to supply the world to her. Though you cannot give the world to your Mom, shower her with a world of pure love and pure joy. You have that within you to give.
Ephesians 6-3 (NIV) 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— 3 “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”
A real mother always balances the books. In other words, with all that your mother has done for you, she will say, “Paid in full,” as long as you love and honor her. A child’s pure love for their mother is worth more than money could ever buy!
To all of the mothers that are mothers indeed, I hope you had a Happy Mother’s Day.
