John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
That is one of the most beloved scriptures of The Holy Bible. The sinner and the saint know it. It paints such a beautiful picture of the ultimate love of God towards mankind. God made a way for mankind to return to Him through the purest vehicle - love.
In thinking about that, I considered that the enemy of God would attempt to destroy that love. How can the devil destroy God’s love? How can the devil make God’s love ineffective?
Well, it would take quite some time, but the devil would have to change what love should look like. While God’s love is about sacrifice, compassion, and protection, our world has disastrously downgraded love to lust. That's right, lust. Lust is a great imitator of love and it does not believe in sacrifice, compassion, or protection. No, lust is selfish and wholly caters to itself.
Stop for a moment and think about it. We now have countless children being conceived out of lust, rather than love. Don't you see how that would result in the child having a love deficit? Don't you see how that precious child may have to go without a love relationship with their father?
Today, one of the greatest challenges for our youth is loving themselves. Low self-esteem is increasing amongst the youth. Unfortunately, that can lead to our youth trying to find themselves.
When a child has no firm foundation of love from both patents that child may face issues concerning him or herself. That can create an atmosphere that is ideal for love to be distorted or destroyed in the lives of some. It is an environment where you will hear “love wins,” but that demonstration of love looks nothing like the love of God.
God’s love is shown in humanity through God’s marriage. When you see a woman ushered to her husband and the two become one flesh, that is a picture of God’s love. All other pictures are not of God’s love but of satan’s lust, which is a great imitator of the real deal.
You must decide which “love” you will live by. Will you be satisfied to live by the counterfeit love, which is lust, or will you desire to live by God’s amazing love?
If you decide to embrace God’s wonderful love, then you will experience the benefits of a beautiful relationship with God.
While it is true that God loves you, that is no guarantee that you will actually choose to love God, love God’s Holy Word, and live your life to glorify God and His Kingdom.
God proved His love. Now, your love will be proved by how you live. You cannot love God and the world. Therefore, if you must still be worldly, then you have, by default, chosen not to love God above all, which is dangerous, eternally dangerous. For only those who love God and obey His Word shall see Him some sweet day.
Do not settle for calling on God or spouting godly terms during times of need. Go beyond that; aim to have a true and right relationship with God, through accepting His Son, Jesus Christ. Then you will become one of the “whosoever” of John 3:16. Blessings Abound!
